wHumanity — Crypto for the Philanthropic community
You may have noticed all sorts of wrapped crypto tokens popping up on the ethereum blockchain. It is now possible to issue tokens with an asset wrapped within it. We see this in the form of NFTs with an asset wrapped inside of it. The token can then be listed on the ethereum blockchain regardless of the asset wrapped inside. This can be ethereum, bitcoin, USD, or even gold. What this boils down to is that anyone can issue their own tokens now, and you are going to be seeing tokenization of everything, tangible and intangible. Combine this with the governance abilities of MakerDAO and you have wHumanity.
wHumanity is a way for humanitarian organaizations to leverage the blockchain to grow their assets, receive funding from a diverse group of contributors using any asset they wish to contribute. A contributor would send a donation in the form of a wrapped crypto asset to the wHarmony blockchain allowing them to avoid the Ethereum transaction fee. The wrapped asset would be added to a trust accessible to organization being contributed to and the donor will receive stablecoin equal to their contribution to be used on the wHumanity blockchain. This stable coin can’t be withdrawn for cash but gives the donor a stake in the governance of those funds.
Say a particular organization receives a large donation and doesn’t use those funds in accordance with their stated objective, holders of wHumanity’s stablecoin could issue a vote to freeze the crypto assets of an organization, or even reallocate to a different one. Conversely, an organization seeking guidance from its donors could issue a vote as to their best course of action.
The organizations that can benefit from this platform include homeless shelters, environmental relief efforts, disaster response, public health organizations. It is an opportunity to decentralize the way we deal with social issues without having to rely on any particular government entity, and when you make a contribution you will be able to hold the ones you contribute to accountable.
